MADRINE ZULU-KALIBA is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over nine years of experience treating individuals with a wide range of psychiatric conditions. She has worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings, providing care for patients with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD and trauma-related illnesses, and schizophrenia, among others.
An alumnus of the University of Texas at Tyler and the University of Texas at Arlington nursing schools, MADRINE is a strong advocate of a collaborative, team-based approach to care, where patients are empowered to take an active role in their healing journey. Her warm, empathetic style helps patients feel seen, heard, and supported.
MADRINE’s journey into mental health care began during her early nursing career, when she cared for a young patient who had been hospitalized multiple times for severe depression. Despite the clinical interventions, what struck Madrine most was how isolated and misunderstood the patient felt—not just by society, but even within the healthcare system. That experience ignited her passion to become a mental health advocate and to help break the stigma surrounding mental illness.
